Lavender (Lavendula) is a species of plants in the mint family. English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), and French lavender (L. stoechas) are two of the most common. The dried flowers can be used for sachets, bath products, decor, and even in drinks and desserts. Lavender plants are largely cultivated for its essential oil, which is used in a myriad of products, such as perfumes, lotions, candles, cleaners, and cosmetics. Lavender has medicinal properties as well. It is commonly used to help with anxiety and depression, as it has very calming attributes.
