Lemon (Citrus Limon) is is a species of small evergreen tree in the Citrus genus of the flowering plant family Rutaceae. Although the true origin of the Lemon is unknown, they were first grown in Southeast Asia in areas such as China, and India. 

There are important by-products of lemons, such as citric acid, lemon oil, and pectin. Citric acid is used in beverage manufacturing, and can be used as a disinfectant. Pectin has long been used for making fruit jellies and for the treatment of intestinal disorders. Lemon oil is used in perfumes, soaps and cleaners.

The invigorating flavor of Lemon can be incorporated into drinks, desserts, and culinary dishes. The medicinal benefits of the lemon were embraced by several cultures, including the Romans, Egyptians, and were also incorporated in Chinese wellness practices. Lemons are commonly used in Ayurvedic practices for their properties that stimulate the senses.
