There is a plethora of interesting information about the Marigold plant. Here are just a few “fun facts” we’ve learned…

One of the most incredible things about this plant is that it attracts pollinators and deters certain critters you want to keep out of your garden. Butterflies absolutely love these flowers. In contrast, Deer can’t stand the smell of the Marigold flower, so they will not come to nibble on your veggies if there are Marigolds around!

Marigolds are one of October’s birth flowers. They look so lovely arranged with Pumpkins - a perfect Seasonal pairing!

In 1987, Crayola came out with the color “Marigold”.

Marigolds were Shakespeare’s favorite flower - he mentioned them 6 times in various plays.

“Here’s flowers for you;

Hot lavender, mints, savoury, marjoram;

The marigold, that goes to bed wi’ the sun

And with him rises weeping...”

-The Winter’s Tale, Act 4, Scene 3

Marigolds are the most commonly grown flower in Nepal and India.

They have great cultural significance in both countries.

According to data from the Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN), Nepal sells around 356 million Nepali Rupees worth of marigold flowers per year - that’s $2,629,569 in US Dollars!
