Back to Fall 2026 or Wander & Explore

October is my favorite month! It holds a special place in my heart for reasons beyond the obvious (sweater-and-boot weather, college & pro football season, and all things pumpkin). It also represents three things that are a little more unique to me.
My husband Michael and I were married on October 30th, 1999. Yep, we were married in the last century and are about to celebrate 27 years!
Our 2nd child (a daughter named Megan) was born on October 7th, 2010. Our son, JT, was 7½ years old then, and she was a most welcome addition, making us a family of four!
I think 83 degrees is perfect Jeep weather, and Northeast Florida provides that comfort plenty of days in October. It’s warm enough when you’re moving and cool enough when you’re sitting at a traffic light. A true Goldilocks moment that makes my heart so happy!
My love for the season inspired me to take a Saturday sunrise walk in my St. Augustine neighborhood on October 10th, and I didn’t plan to go far. However, I passed a little dirt path off the main walkway that I remembered led to the nature preserve (adjacent to and accessible from several points in the Shearwater development). It’s one of the reasons we purchased in this neighborhood, and that’s when my little adventure took me right where I needed to be - solo in my little part of the woods!
All I can describe it as is “Forest Bathing Bliss”, and I was intentional about capturing the most standout moments for this project without jeopardizing the importance of tuning off & tuning in for my own wellbeing during restorative times like these. Enjoy this 1-minute video of my experience for an instant sense of calm - ahhh!

My love for being in the woods is all I have ever really known, and I look forward to writing about some of those memories and creating new ones with this community!
