Gardening
Marigolds are fairly easy to grow, they grow quickly and don’t require a lot of maintenance - which is why Marigolds make a perfect garden addition no matter what level of “green thumb” you may or may not have.
“The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.”

Planting Marigold
You can grow this gorgeous plant from seed or start with plant cuttings.
If growing from seed, you can sow them directly in your garden, as long as the last frost has passed and they are protected from pests. Marigolds like lots of sun, and well-drained soil.
Many choose to plant seeds in starter trays, peat pots, or other recycled items such as cardboard tubes or egg cartons. In less than 10 days, you will see germination! Once the seedlings have 2 leaves, they can be potted on, either in the ground, a garden bed, or a pot. Container-grown plants may need additional fertilizer to encourage healthy growth. (We highly recommend EnSoil for the best results!)
Once the seeds are sown and the soil conditions are good, depending on which variety you plant, you can have beautiful flower blooms within 60-100 days.
French Marigolds grow well from seed, but if you’re planting African Marigolds, they are best to purchase as young plants, as they take longer to flower.
There are countless resources to help guide you as you grow Marigolds. The best way to learn is by experience. As is the case with gardening in general, you learn best by doing. Go ahead and get your hands dirty and see what can happen!
Benefits of Planting Marigold in your Garden
Marigold is the perfect companion plant. It is beneficial to plant around vegetables or other plants, as it will not only deter pests, but it will attract pollinators to your garden, such as bees and butterflies.
Marigolds are often used in Children’s Gardens. Not only because of the beautiful colors, and ease of growing, but there are great educational elements, as they can engage all of their senses in the process.
One amazing thing about the Marigold plant is that you can easily save the seeds which come from the flower head, and use them to continue growing Marigolds - one plant can supply you with a life-time of seeds!
